Day 1:
Depart the USA for an overnight flight to Cairo
Day 2:
Arrive Cairo International Airport where you will be met and assisted by Mohamed, your English speaking Egyptologist, who will be your guide throughout your entire tour. Transfer to your hotel in Cairo
Day 3:
Start your day with a visit to Sakkara here you will see the Step Pyramid in the necropolis where many pharaohs of the old Kingdom were buried, next you visit Memphis: the first capital of Egypt dating back to 3100BC. After a lunch break continue on to Dahshour where you will see the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid. End your day with a visit to a Carpet School where you will see a demonstration on how carpets are made with time to shop. Overnight Cairo.
Day 4:
The big day has arrived...no trip to Egypt is complete without viewing the Pyramids of Giza. The Great Pyramid of Khufu is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that still remains and your early arrival will help you have an opportunity to enter the burial chamber. Next to the pyramids sits The Sphinx He has never yet revealed his secrets... maybe you will be the chosen one.....
Before lunch there will be time for a short Camel ride and with the Pyramids as your background it will be a memorable photo. After lunch you drive to The Egyptian Museum in Cairo, home to thousands of priceless Egyptian antiquities... including treasures from the tomb of King Tutankhamen.
Before returning to you hotel you will stop at a Jewelry store where you can shop for your own treasures whether it is for copies of King Tut's Collection, your own Cartouche or a special gift to take home... Egypt is well known for its high quality jewelry. Overnight Cairo
Day 5
It is an early start with a 4:00AM departure to the airport to catch the first flight to Abu Simbel to see the temples built by Ramsess II... one for himself and one for his favorite queen. Saved from being lost forever under the flood waters of the Nile when the High Dam was built, these temples are a spectacular sight. Return by air to Aswan and check in to your hotel. After lunch and a short rest you will sail on a felucca around the Aswan Islands. Overnight Aswan
Day 6
This morning you will visit the Aswan High Dam , the Unfinished Obelisk and beautiful Philae Temple. After lunch you will visit the Nubian Museum. Overnight Aswan
Day 7:
Today you will join a convoy enroute to beautiful Kom Ombo Temple. Don't miss the Nileometer and a mummified crocodile. Your convoy will continue to Edfu Temple, built for the god Horus, you will visit the most intact temple in Egypt. Your convoy will end in Luxor where you will check in to your hotel. Overnight Luxor
Day 8:
In the morning you will cross the Nile to the West Bank and visit the mystical and peaceful Valley of the Kings and Queens. Tour tombs of the ancient Pharaohs and Queens... here is where King Tutankhamun's intact tomb was discovered in 1922. After lunch you will return to the east bank where you will walk down The Avenue of the Sphinxes to Karnak Temple. At the other end of The Avenue of Sphinx, sits Luxor Temple. A visit there will be after dark to view its soaring hypostyle hall spectacularly lit at night. Today will also include a stop at the Papyrus institute where you will see a demonstration on how the Ancient Egyptians made paper and have an opportunity to shop for your own papyrus painting. Day9:
An early flight to Cairo and it is on to Coptic Cairo, or Old Cairo, where you will see the old Roman fortress of Babylon and the Hanging Church. A memorial stop will be St Sergius Church built over the crypt where the Holy Family stayed for several months after fleeing to Egypt. After lunch you will tour Islamic Cairo: where you visit the Citadel and you will see the magnificent Alabaster Mosque. Your final stop of the day will be to a Perfume Factory. Day 10:
This morning you will drive to Alexandria the second largest city in Egypt. Traveling along a modern road lush and green...it was once known as the desert road. You will spend you day exploring Alexandria and will visit the new Alexandria Library. Check in to your hotel. Overnight Alexandria
Day 11
After checking our of your hotel you will visit the Greco-Roman monuments; The Catacomb, Bombay's Pillar, and the Amphitheater. Your will also visit the spot where the once magnificient Alexandria Light House once stood. Late this afternoon you will drive back to Cairo for your Farewell Dinner. Overnight Cairo
Day 12
Early morning departure to the Cairo Airport and your flight home
